The New English School proudly celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2024 in a heartfelt ceremony filled with joy, reflection, and anticipation for the future. Surrounded by family, friends, and staff, our graduates commemorated years of hard work, dedication, and growth. The event was a testament to their achievements and the supportive community that has guided them. As they embark on new adventures and face the exciting challenges ahead, we congratulate each graduate on their remarkable journey and wish them success in all their future endeavours.
Year 3 student Amal Al Shami recently showcased her creativity at a GCC-wide competition in Kuwait. Organised by the University of Kuwait in partnership with "The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf," the event aimed to recognise innovative projects from schools across the region. Amal's project earned her the prestigious title of third-best innovative project in Kuwait, a testament to her creativity and problem-solving skills at a young age.
Congratulations to Amal on her remarkable achievement, and we look forward to witnessing her continued growth and success!
At The New English School, leadership and mentorship are valued from an early age. Recently, 14 outstanding Year 7 form captains and vice captains visited our current Year 6 students, offering guidance and reassurance as they prepare for the transition to 'big' school. This initiative aimed to ease any nerves and provide insights into the exciting journey ahead.
The Music Department and piano students had the privilege of having a Piano Masterclass with the renowned British concert pianist and teacher, Thalia Myers. Our pianists gratefully received her insight and experience to help us all in our musical practice. A big thank you from NES!
Visiting Kuwaiti author, Bibi Salem Al Sabah, presented her recent book "ABCs of Kuwait" to our Year 3 students. The book, which explores the culture, landmarks and history of Kuwait, is beautifully illustrated and captures aspects of culture that are familiar to many of our students. It was also a fabulous opportunity for our students to gain a deeper insight into the world in which they live, here in Kuwait.
Our Year 6 NES mathletes competed at the annual Kuwait Mathletics competition, held at BSK. After a very close finish, including a tie-break, our team received bronze medals, placing third overall.
As one of the many activities conducted during appreciation week, our Sixth Form students organised and ran an assembly dedicated to showing appreciation for the hard work and dedication of their fellow students both to the school and to each other.
Presentations were given by representatives from the school sports teams, the Tareq Rajab Docent Program, MUN, our Head Girl and Head Boy, amongst others. The speakers gave recognition for the outstanding contribution of our students to the school community.
Our students are what make NES a rewarding, vibrant place to be, the school is proud to have such a large number of outstanding role models, setting a clear positive example within the NES community and beyond.
After a three-year hiatus, NES students were delighted & proud to return to the Harvard Model Congress in Dubai as true global citizens. NES students arrived well-prepared and eager to collaborate with their fellow delegates. New friends and networks were fostered leaving a lasting legacy for next year’s cohort. Well done and congratulations to all students.
We’re thrilled to announce that NES students have been awarded 49 Cambridge outstanding learner awards. These awards recognise truly exceptional performances in IGCSE, AS and A-Level examinations and place the recipients among the top students both in the region and globally.
We’d like to congratulate all our students and staff for their hard work and great success.
The first visiting NES alum for this year was Kevin Mathew. Kevin left NES in 2018, after a prestigious career here at the New English School, including acting as Head Boy in his final year of studies. After studying Industrial Engineering at Georgia Tech University, he went on to work at Microsoft on their groundbreaking Copilot AI program.
In his talk to students, Kevin spoke of the importance of making the most of every opportunity, including acting on the feedback of others. He finished his talk by highlighting the importance of emotional intelligence, particularly the positive impact of collaboration, listening, reflecting and being grateful.
