The Award Scheme at NES tries to encourage young people to improve themselves and be the best they can be at a Skill, a Service to others, and a physical recreation activity. The final section of the award the adventurous journey helps them to develop a sense of adventure, encourages a greater degree of self reliance and helps to foster abilities as both a leader and a team play.
The Levels
There are three levels of Award:
BRONZE SILVER GOLD
* FOR ONE hour per week.
** For Bronze you will need to chose one section and do it for an extra 3 months- MINIMUM TIME PERIOD to complete the BRONZE AWARD IS 6 MONTHS *** For direct silver you will need to chose one section and do it for an extra 6 months The table above shows the minimum time commitment for each level of the award - even if you spend more than one hour per week the minimum time commitment remains the same - i.e. You can can't successfully complete a section by doing more hours per week but in less months than the minimum number shown in the table. The Programme has four Sections designed to provide a balanced programme of personal development.
There is also an additional requirement at GOLD level:
5 day Residential Project - to broaden experience through involvement with others in a residential setting.
