ADMISSIONS POLICY

Policy Statement
We maintain flexibility and breadth of provision, to enable us to receive pupils at any stage of their career and provide them with the highest possible standards of education. Children of all nationalities and religions are considered for acceptance.

Process for acceptance
Parents are required to complete the appropriate application form and provide documents as stipulated by the Ministry of education.

The following criterion then needs to be met:

1. Present a satisfactory report from the previous school (Year 1 -6)
2. Give a clear indication that they have the ability to succeed and progress in the school.
3. Complete the assessment interview/entrance exam to a satisfactory standard.
4. Display an interest and desire to become to become a member of the NES community.
5. When a place is offered it must be secured with a payment of a deposit.

Special consideration will be given to the children who have:

1. been recommended for acceptance by the Chairman or Director
2. siblings already attending the school.
3. been directed to NES by the Ministry.
4. both or one parent who is a native English speaker
5. parents working at a foreign embassy

However it should be noted that the above does not guarantee admission into the school.

Places are not available for children with specific learning or behavioral difficulties.

Admission Interview Procedure

The child is assessed by the head teacher, deputy or a panel of teachers from the appropriate year group.

Infant children are assessed in numerical understanding, linguistic capabilities, gross and fine motor skills, cognitive development and social skills.
Junior children are formally tested in numeracy and literacy.

The final decision to recommend a child for acceptance is that of the headteacher.
